General summary
Plans and proposes well drilling and work over programmes including well testing, stimulation, surveys and sampling programmes. Supervises reservoir engineering related field operations, and conducts systematic and periodical surveillance activities for monitoring individual wells and reservoirs performance. Responsibilities
- Reviews various reservoir engineering data, production data and information, existing analysis and study reports, and recommends programmes for drilling of exploratory/ development wells, well workovers, well completion and production methods. Prepares programmes for flow tests, drill-stem tests, and well stimulation and cleaning, periodically pressure surveys, special well surveys, production logging, and various laboratory analyses. Supervises such field operations and practices ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with the Company’s safety policies and procedures.
- Analyses, evaluates, and reports field testing and monitoring data. Investigates performance of each well and reservoir. Compiles, updates, and maintains reservoir engineering data establishing basic reservoir parameters. Investigates and proposes upstream resource optimization programmes, and follows up and evaluates activity results. Prepares routine regular reports, statistics, technical summaries and other technical reports.
- Checks operational reports and invoices from contractors, and prepares payment requisitions. Assists Supervisor in preparation of budgets for the Group. Assists supervisor in tender procedure for supporting service contracts.
- Collects latest information of new technologies and methods in reservoir engineering, and recommends application of such technology/method to his work. Discusses with Host Government officials, consultants, and engineers of other companies to solve technical problems and to improve the Company’s reservoir management methods/technologies.
Independence of operations
Works in accordance with established plans, policies and professional standards. Plans and programmes are discussed with supervisor and completed work is subject to review and approval.
Physical Effort & Work
Minimal; however, some physical effort exerted, climbing, standing while on the drilling platform 10% of time. Spends approximately 90% of time in an air-conditioned environment; 10% of time offshore on operations, exposed to the prevailing conditions of an offshore drilling platform, heat, noise, fumes, etc.
Minimum Requirements
- B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering
- 5-6 years experience in reservoir management engineering and practices in the oil industry.
- Very good knowledge of English.
- Basic knowledge and skills on PC operations.
The post holder may be required to undertake additional duties, which may be reasonably expected and forms part of the function of the post.
